A reporting layer over the same engine: templates, expressions, aggregates and data exports.
The problem
Every report becomes code. Changing a column means a deployment, and the people who know what the report should say cannot change it.
The approach
Keep the layout in a template with expressions and aggregates, and feed it a dataset at run time. The same run can also produce the data export the finance team asked for.
